Cookie Election Ballot

For Social Studies we are gearing up for the upcoming presidential election. We (my 2nd grade team) are planning on having a mock election in honor of the event to help the students better understand the process. I have several ideas that I want to do with this. But my ideas always surpass my ability and time to do them. We have settled on having a cookie election. The candidates will most likely be chocolate chip and Oreo Cookies. Even though we already have some ballots to use that one of us purchased at the Dollar Tree, I thought it would be fun to make a cookie ballot. It's a simple check box ballot that students can use to vote for their favorite cookie. If you use it let me know how you like it.

GREAT SITE ALERT! Jeopardy Game

So I love playing learning games with my students. I'm always on the lookout for different games. I came across this great site called Super Teacher Tools that offers a FREE flash Jeopardy game that you can play online. You also have the option to download it to your computer. All you have to do is type your questions and answers into the form. You choose your own category and also if you want Final Jeopardy or not. It couldn't be easier to do. This game could be used across the board in your curriculum. I'm already thinking about using if for Science when we do the solar Scientific Method. This a great opportunity. Don't sleep on it!
